THE LOS ANGELES RIVER WINE COMPANY

The other building was just a little east from North Spring, at an intersection named for two grape growers and winemakers. But the property seemed unreachable. Huge. Grand. Renovated. But the landlords were sane.

The building housed the Shepard Fairey and Beyond the Streets exhibits. It was huge, and grand, an early 20th-century steel cathedral. And it was for lease, long term. We made many visits. It held promise nearly beyond the imagination.

It had this amazing superstructure in one corner. Tegan thought that maybe it had something to do with building ships. The building had a 60 foot peaked roof; a 25 foot roll up door. It was built for giants. Somehow, we leased it.
